Editorial Reviews

The world in the Middle Ages, by B. Merdrignac and P. Mérienne, Ed. Ouest France, 6-½ inches x 9-½ inches ( 17 cm x 24 cm ), softcover book with 128 full color pages

This softcover book with 128 full color pages presents the world and its evolution in the Middle Ages.
The expression of the Middle Ages, in the sense of an intermediate period, really has meaning (and only!) In Western Europe.
However, during the millennium that stretches from the 5th to the 15th century, this one maintained incessant exchanges with the Muslim and Byzantine worlds.
On other continents, civilizations developed with which the West comes into contact at the end of this period.
The maps established by Patrick Mérienne make it possible to bring out the richness and the diversity of cultures and societies which then flourished.
The author has endeavored to establish chronologies which, by restoring the course of events, make it possible to establish the necessary reference points for understanding the world in the Middle Ages.
In addition, genealogies, biographical notes, and thematic updates are intended to shed light on particularly significant or controversial issues.

An index with characters, peoples and institutions, place names and map coordinates completes this work.

The French texts are written by Bernard Merdrignac and the cartography is by Patrick Mérienne.
